We’ve all been told that in business, time is money, but few realize that time can be so much more than that. At Millstream, we believe that we can do more to benefit the world around us than by sending money. 

By giving our time, experience, expertise, and dedication, we can deliver more benefits to those in need than just a financial donation would. This is the philosophy behind our outreach programs and directs our energies toward disadvantaged communities in the United States and beyond.

When we asked ourselves how we could best give back to our community in particular and the world in general, the obvious answer was to offer what we know best; our professional services. 

No matter where they live in the world, the desire and need for a roof over one’s head is a universal dream, and we realized that this is something that we could make a reality for people that might otherwise not be able to achieve. So, without hesitation, we packed our tools and went to Baja, Mexico.

Baja Bound: Millstream Construction Goes To Baja

We have always felt the need to reach out and enrich the lives of the communities supporting us and the world. After learning about the California-based Baja Bound group through some companies we collaborate with on roofing projects, we decided this was an excellent opportunity to help.

After identifying a community needing help, we conducted a fundraising campaign throughout 2022, which provided the funds required to carry out our mission. 

Early this year, we sent out a team of expert builders intending to build a complete home for a family in need in Baja, Mexico. Within three days, they were able to build an entire house for the family.

They started with a plastic shelter, dirt floors, and a two-burner stove struggling to survive in the Mexican climate that gets unbearably hot during the day and bitterly cold at night. 

As we speak now, this family of seven is able to enjoy a comfortable family home fully fitted with spacious rooms, effective insulation, proper plumbing, and a solar installation to provide them with all the energy they need to live their lives to the fullest.

As part of our outreach program, we also visited a nearby migrant camp and donated 30 food packages. These packages were enough to feed the migrant workers living under harsh conditions for three weeks, and we plan to get back there to do even more next time.

Why We Chose Baja Bound

As much as we are privileged to live in one of the greatest countries in the world, it’s undeniable that people are suffering across the globe. While we try to reach out to underprivileged communities and individuals within our borders, we were touched to further direct our energies when we came across the Baja Bound Association. 

While Baja is relatively close to home, being not so far across the California border, there is untold misery being experienced by countless migrant workers drawn there by the promise of work. 

Baja Bound is an organization dedicated to alleviating the suffering experienced by these people and has a proven track record of delivering on its promises. 

While all this might not seem relevant to the purpose of a construction company, we believe that it’s crucial that we demonstrate our care for the world around us. 

This is only an extension of Millstream Construction’s commitment to the well-being and comfort of the people we work for, and we hope to be an example to all other companies in our field.
